When Classic Craft Meets Conceptual Design
Barbour’s first collaboration with Feng Chen Wang has been widely noted for how it reframes heritage outerwear without losing its core functionality. Critics highlight the redesigned Bedale and Fendale jackets — updated with Dragon Horse embroidery and a Lunar New Year-inspired palette — as pieces that balance Barbour’s classic utility with Feng’s conceptual, cultural design language.
The collaboration reimagines Barbour’s iconic silhouettes through the lens of ancient folklore and Feng’s emotionally charged design language. The collection comprises of a focused colour palette for Lunar New Year, reflecting good fortune and growth, marking a meeting point between British countryside roots and Eastern mysticism, anchored in both brands’ mutual appreciation for authenticity, cultural storytelling, and timeless craftsmanship.
"The collection’s centrepiece, a deconstructed Bedale jacket, draws its narrative inspiration from the ‘Long Ma (Dragon-Horse)’, a mythical creature from the Chinese classic Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas). With the strength and wisdom of the dragon and the freedom and vitality of the horse, the creature becomes a powerful motif symbolising endurance, spirit, and the journey of global citizens."

"For Feng, the project is deeply personal. Her connection with Barbour began as a student in London, when she first encountered the brand’s waxed jackets on the rain-soaked streets – a defining image of British culture. Her own vintage Barbour jacket, collected during that time, became a symbol of identity and a vessel of emotional memory."
