Step beyond the velvet ropes and immerse yourself in the captivating world of this centuries-old architectural masterpiece. Our exclusive behind-the-scenes tour offers a unique opportunity to step back in time, unlocking some of the hidden parts of the castle to reveal rooms, stories and treasures not usually seen by the public. From the magnificent State Bedroom, designed to impress the most important visitors, to the suite of rooms used by the 10^th Lord Barnard, including the grand Billiard Room and his private study, every detail of which remains unchanged since his death in 1964.
Numbers are limited on these special tours as we glimpse into smaller, more intimate rooms and venture down narrow passages within the walls, where our friendly Senior Guides look forward to sharing some of the lesser-known stories of Raby Castle and the people who have lived and worked here.
Dogs are not allowed in the castle or terrace.

Tours run April - July

This trip operates during April as the birds make their return to the islands and continues during the nesting season from May until the end July. Puffins start to return to the Farne Islands from the end of March with numbers varying until they settle down for nesting mid April. The Puffins start to leave the islands at the end of July/beginning of August.

Child prices are for age 5-15. Under 5’s are classed as infants. No concessions.
Dogs are permitted on this trip.
This trip spends 2 hours sailing around the Farne Islands without a landing and offers ample opportunities to view the prolific bird life which nests on these magnificent islands during the breeding season from May till the end of July.
Highlights include views of Puffins, Guillemots, Shags, Cormorants, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Razorbills and Eider Ducks.
